The Piccada Hotel is an ideal base for excursions all over the mountain and coastal regions of the Gallura. The Piccada Hotel organizes excursions for its guests by boat around the archipelago or by “trenino verde” (characteristic trains using the old Sardinian railway lines in the heart of the countryside) to the internal regions, evenings out dining on a traditional meal in a typical farmhouse setting, trips on horseback, sailing courses and mini-cruise to Corsica. During the Summer season Palau has direct ferry connections to Naples, Genoa, and Portovecchio (Corsica). The close ports of Olbia (39 Km) and Golfo Aranci (42 Km) are also reachable by car ferry from Genova, Livorno, La Spezia, Civitavecchia and Piombino. There is also a rapid service (3 hour crossing) operating on the Olbia - Civitavecchia route. Direct flights connect Olbia airport with all major Italian and European destinations. All the important surrounding places of interest can be reached in less than 30 minutes from Palau. Situated in a panoramic position overlooking the aripelago of La Maddalena, a few minutes walk from the centre and tourist port of Palau, the Piccada Hotel has 60 doubble rooms, 41 of which have an indipendent entrance and sun terrace.
